Condo coughs up $1M for rape victim of hushed-up crime spree

A Bronx condo has agreed to pay almost $1 million to a woman who was raped by a serial attacker and claimed the building hushed up the crime spree.

The victim, whose name is being withheld by the Daily News, was attacked at knifepoint in March 2003 by the so-called "good-guy bandit" - who got his nickname by helping the elderly with packages before robbing them.

He was suspected in nearly a dozen assaults and robberies around the Parkchester South Condominium between August 2002 and March 2003.

"All the crimes followed the same MO, same weapon, same description of the guy," said lawyer William Gallina, whose firm represented the woman. "[Parkchester] didn't notify or inform the residents about this."

Parkchester South's attorneys did not return calls.

Tyrone Felton pleaded guilty in 2003 and was sentenced to 24 years. The civil case was nearing the end of trial when the condo settled.

The woman will get $975,000, said her lawyer, Pablo Sosa. "She's been brave and trying to look towards the future," he said.
